Approaches

We integrate a diverse range of therapeutic modalities tailored to meet individual client needs. Below are a few of the core we draw from.

Attachment Theory

Attachment theory focuses on the relationships and bonds between individuals. Developed by John Bowlby, this theory emphasizes the importance of secure attachments in early development between child and caregivers for healthy emotional and psychological growth. In therapy, understanding a client's attachment style can help address issues related to trust, intimacy, and emotional regulation. Both Kasey and Sian-Marie utilize attachment theory applying its principles to counseling. Their deep understanding of how early attachment experiences shape emotional and relational patterns allows her to tailor their  therapeutic approach to each client's unique needs. By identifying and addressing insecure attachment styles, they help clients develop healthier relationships and improve emotional regulation.

Cogntive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

With specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), both Kasey and Sian-Marie utilize the concept of neuroplasticity to help their clients rewire their brains for positive change. Neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to form new neural pathways, is pivotal in CBT. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, clients can create healthier mental habits. Through consistent practice and tailored interventions, they guide clients in strengthening these new pathways, leading to lasting improvements in their emotional regulation, resilience, and overall mental health.

Mindfulness-Based Therapies

Our team uses mindfulness-based therapy to help clients heal by teaching them to stay present, observe their thoughts non-judgmentally, and cultivate self-awareness. This approach reduces stress, enhances emotional regulation, and promotes inner resilience.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

As a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) clinician, Kasey specializes in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. EMDR is widely regarded as the gold standard for treating PTSD and other trauma-related issues. It has received the highest endorsements from clinical practice guidelines, including those from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, US Department of Defense, the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, and the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council. Many mental health struggles are rooted in unprocessed traumatic memories, and reprocessing these memories through EMDR can lead to profound, life-changing results.

Expressive Arts Therapies

Expressive arts therapies, such as sandtray therapy and child-centered play therapy (CCPT), are highly effective modalities for working with children in a mental health setting. These approaches allow children to express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a non-verbal and creative manner, which can be especially beneficial for those who have difficulty articulating their feelings. Sandtray therapy involves using miniature figures and a sandbox to create scenes that reflect a client's inner world, providing insights into their subconscious. Child-centered play therapy, on the other hand, relies on the natural language of play to help children process and understand their experiences. Both therapies prioritize the child's autonomy and inner resources, creating a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their feelings and develop coping strategies. By engaging in these therapeutic techniques, children can gain a sense of control, improve their emotional regulation, and enhance their overall mental health and well-being.

About Us

At Wesley Chapel Counseling, we believe healing happens in the context of safety, connection, and evidence-based care. Our clinicians take an integrative, trauma-informed approach to therapy, recognizing that many emotional and relational struggles are shaped by past experiences, attachment patterns, and unprocessed stress. We work with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional regulation difficulties. Treatment is always tailored to the individual, blending proven clinical modalities with warmth, collaboration, and practical skill-building. Our team draws from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), attachment-based interventions, mindfulness practices, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For children, we incorporate Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and sandtray therapy to support developmentally appropriate emotional processing. Whether addressing trauma through EMDR, strengthening coping skills, improving communication within families, or helping teens navigate identity and peer pressures, our goal is to provide therapy that is both compassionate and results-oriented. We offer both in-person and tele-health services to residents throughout Florida and are honored to support our clients in building resilience, clarity, and meaningful, lasting change.
