FAQ

Getting Started

1) How do I get started?
Reach out through our contact form, text or call us and leave a voicemail. We reach out to find a time to set up a free 10-15 min consultation so you can see if our therapists would be a good fit for you or your child's needs.

2) What happens in a free consultation?
Over a short 10–15-minute phone call, we’ll learn what brings you in, share a bit about us and our approach, discuss availability, fees/insurance, and if it feels like a good fit, schedule your first appointment.

3) I’ve never done therapy. What should I expect?
Expect a calm, safe, and respectful space. Early sessions focus on understanding your concerns, clarifying goals, and building a plan. You set the pace; we guide with evidence‑informed strategies and practical tools.

4) How soon can I be seen?
We hold openings for new clients and will offer the first available times that fit your schedule. If needed, we can place you on a short waitlist and keep you updated quickly.

5) Do you offer in‑person and virtual sessions?
Yes. We meet in person at our office and virtually via secure telehealth platform. We are licensed to practice in Florida.

Insurance, Billing & Superbills

6) Do you take my insurance?
Some of our clinicians are in‑network with certain plans, and many clients also use out‑of‑network benefits. We’ll clarify your options during the consultation and provide a superbill if you plan to submit for reimbursement. (Please verify benefits with your insurer.) 7) What is a superbill and how do I submit one?
A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes all the codes your insurer needs. You pay our office directly, then submit the superbill through your insurer’s portal or claims address for possible reimbursement.

8) How do I verify my out‑of‑network benefits? (Step‑by‑step)
Call the number on your insurance card and ask:

  • Do I have outpatient mental health out‑of‑network benefits?

  • What is my deductible and coinsurance after it’s met?

  • Are telehealth sessions covered?

  • Any prior authorization, session limits, or precertification requirements?

  • What is the claim submission process and timeline?
We can provide the CPT codes we typically use during your consult.

9) What are your fees and how is payment handled?
We’ll review fees before booking. Payment is due at the time of service and can be made by credit/debit card, HSA/FSA. You’ll always know costs up front.

Yes! therapy is generally an eligible medical expense. We’ll provide receipts or superbills as needed for your records.

Yes. We use a secure, HIPAA‑compliant platform and recommend you join from a private, quiet location with headphones if possible. We’ll also review simple steps to protect your privacy at home.

Yes, we do. We have seen many clients with public‑facing, professional athletics, and executive roles. Upon request, we can provide discreet scheduling, limit identifiable information in communications, use aliases in calendars, minimize third‑party access, and coordinate secure billing practices. Your privacy and reputation are protected with the highest priority.

The Therapy Process & Experience

14) What happens in the first session?
We’ll review privacy and consent, gather history, clarify goals, and outline a plan. You’ll leave with next steps and, often, a practical tool or two to start using right away.

15) How do we set goals and a plan?
Together, we define what “better” looks like with specific, meaningful outcomes. We’ll select approaches that fit your needs and revisit goals regularly to keep therapy useful and focused.

16) How often will we meet and how long will therapy last?
Most clients start weekly, then taper to biweekly as progress builds. The overall length varies by goals, severity, and pace. Some find relief in weeks; others prefer longer‑term work for deeper change.

17) What if I’ve had a bad experience with therapy before?
We’ll start by understanding what didn’t work and build a plan that honors your preferences. You’re encouraged to give feedback at any time; it’s your therapy, and we welcome collaboration.

18) What therapeutic approaches do you use?
Our clinicians use evidence‑informed methods such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, trauma‑informed and attachment‑based care, mindfulness, child-centered play therapy, and couples/family frameworks. We tailor the approach to your goals and preferences.

Fit & Choosing Us

19) How do I know if your practice is the right fit for me?
Fit matters. In the consultation, we’ll match you with a clinician whose expertise, style, and availability align with your needs. If we’re not the best fit, we’ll share trusted referrals right away.

20) Who do you work with and what concerns do you treat?
We work with individuals, couples, children, and families on concerns like anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, parenting, grief, trauma, life transitions, performance, and professional burnout. If your concern is outside our scope, we’ll help you find the right specialist.

21) What makes Wesley Chapel Counseling different?

We’re focused on your outcomes, not keeping you in therapy longer than you need. From the beginning, we work with you to clarify what’s not working, what you want to change, and what “better” actually looks like. Our goal is to help you make meaningful progress as efficiently as possible, build skills you can use on your own, and eventually no longer need us.

Good therapy shouldn’t create dependence. It should help you get unstuck, feel more capable, and move forward with confidence. If we do our job well, therapy becomes a chapter you don’t have to stay in forever.

Results, Progress & Outcomes

22) What does success look like in therapy?
Success is personal. It often it includes symptom relief, stronger coping skills, improved relationships, renewed confidence, and alignment with your values. We define this together so therapy stays meaningful.

22) How will we measure progress?
We use your goals, periodic check‑ins, and (when helpful) brief standardized measures. You’ll know what’s improving and what still needs attention, and we’ll adjust course accordingly.

24) What if I don’t feel therapy is working for me?
Tell us! Early and openly. We can adjust the approach, pace, or goals, or collaborate on a referral if another modality or specialist would serve you better. Your well‑being comes first.
